CURRENT PROJECT TOPICS: ORIGIN-DESTINATION STUDY

An Origin-Destination (O-D) study was completed in November 2008. Cameras captured vehicle license plates to better understand existing travel patterns through the I-435/I-35/K-10 Interchange. This information is being used to better understand existing traffic conditions and to help plan for improvements. The summary of information presented shows the traffic flow during the AM or PM peak travel hours  for each of the three highways I-435, I-35, K-10. The percentage numbers before and after each interchange indicate the percent of traffic that access that interchange location. Overall the results indicate:

1. The majority of traffic movements are:

  • AM Peak Hour: I-35 NB,  I-435 EB and K-10  EB
  • PM Peak Hour: I-35 SB, I-435 WB and K-10 WB

2. The K-10 Corridor has experienced significant traffic growth and is becoming a major movement to and from I-435.
